Mobb Deep Mixtapes And How They Affected Their Rise To Stardom

Prodigy and Havoc started rhyming together while both attended the Art and Design High School of New York City. Though originally calling themselves the Poetical Prophets, their name later changed to Mobb Deep so that they could reflect their street reputation. Though their first record was a disappointment, it did gain some recognition for the hip hop songs titled "Hit It From the Back" and "Me and My Crew."

Credited for the resurgence of East Coast rap in the early 1990's, they are one of the most successful duos in rap history, having sold over 4 million records. Though most of their albums are critically acclaimed, their album titled The Infamous, is considered a classic. Though in their early years, they relied heavily on releasing new and fresh Mobb Deep mixtapes to spread their name and hip hop beats.

Some of the titles include, Queensbridge Meets, Unreleased Tape, Infamous Mobb, Mobb Misses 4, and Something Like a Horror Flick. As with most artists struggling to make it in the business, all of the Mobb Deep mixtapes were available for free at many of the rap shows around New York City. All of their music went back to portraying the struggles of living in public housing in New York City, which is really all they knew at the time.

Today, they have released 8 studio albums, and hundreds of different Mobb Deep mixtapes, which help to keep them fresh in the minds of their fans. Their new mixtapes are often highly anticipated,as their unique blend of hip hop beats never gets old. Only time will tell how they will be remembered among the great hip hop artists of all time.
